The mass-produced book as we encounter it today is based on the codex form and is bound for utility. The codex represented a highly efficient way to store information, setting the stage for the dissemination of knowledge and the development of the printing press. The codex holds considerable practical advantages over other book formats, including compactness, sturdiness, ease of reference and economy. It is not an exaggeration to say that the codex totally changed the usage of the written word and influenced the way we read. Arguably, this definition of the book emphasises utilitarianism at the expense of other experiences it offers, such as the visual, visceral and experiential. In this project, the most difficult part was catching the aspects of a tornado. What is the rhythm of the tornado? How does one use material to represent it ? After getting the idea of the structure and the material, I spent a long time testing, especially checking rotation and speed.
